SW UNIVERSE - OOC RULES

This is a full immersion Star Wars Universe role-play Sim and anyone wishing to role-play on this Sim will be asked to adhere to the following set of rules. The rules are designed to ensure fair play, respect for common role-play practices and an enjoyable role-play environment for all. Please read through the rules thoroughly before engaging in role-play.

IGNORANCE OF THE RULES IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR NOT FOLLOWING THEM

Failure to follow the rules can lead to OOC consequences; warnings, privilege removal, bans, etc… The penalty will vary depending upon the severity of the infraction.

GENERAL SIM RULES

ADULT CONTENT - Role-play scenarios involving; nudity, sex. rape, violence, abuse, capture, combat, kidnapping and other acts that some people might find objectionable can and will occur. If you are easily offended you may wish to leave the Sim now. You must be OVER eighteen years of age in real life to role play upon the Star Wars Universe Sims.

AVATARS & CHARACTER CREATION - SW Universe recognises all species as described/depicted within the Star Wars Universe. A multitude of information regarding acceptable species can be found online. Any questions regarding acceptable species should be directed to a Sim Admin at the role-play Sim you intend to frequent. The following rules apply to avatars and character creation:

FURRY AVATARS - SW Universe recognises the following species as ‘furries’; Cathar, Amaran, Cantrosian and Shistavanen. No other ‘furry’ species are recognised. When creating your avatar please ensure it adheres to the following additional guidelines. You will need to be white, black, grey, tan, or auburn, unless otherwise stated in either Legends, or Cannon. Amarans are short, hip height on the average human. Shistavanen and Cathar are average human height. These species do not have normal ‘human’ hair, no hair is preferred but fur matching/naturally styled hair is acceptable unless you are Cathar who may wear dreads, or hair that resembles a mane.

Amarans need to have digitigrade legs (canine like). Please use common sense when dressing ‘furry’ avatars. Any questions regarding acceptable ‘furry’ avatars should be directed to a Sim Admin at the role-play Sim you intend to frequent.

METER - SW Universe Sims use the SWT dice-based combat system which must be worn at all times. SWT was designed as a solution for combat that requires skill and thought as opposed to often laggy scripted weapon combat. The meter allows for multiple set-up options; class choices, abilities, etc… and can be tailored to suit individual characters and play styles. Before engaging in role-play the meter must be set up correctly. Meter Rank will be set to ‘Skilled/Standard’ unless a higher rank has been approved (RANK APPLICATION).

A list of approved ranks can be found here: APPROVED RANKS.

ALL ROLE-PLAYERS SHOULD FILL THE RANK APPLICATION REGARDLESS OF THE DESIRE TO ADVANCE IN RANK

Specific Meter rules, Class Templates, Abilities, etc… and information on how to set the meter up correctly and use it for combat can be found here: SWT CHARACTER BATTLES. Setting your SWT Meter/HUD to a rank higher than Skilled/Standard without said Rank being approved by the GM/Admins that handle Rank Applications is NOT permitted. Repeated violations of this rule will lead to Staff intervention and possible exclusion from the SW Universe Sim.

OOC/AFK: Role-players who are not currently engaged in role-play are encouraged to use the OOC Tag to allow other role-players to avoid interaction accordingly. Do not AFK in busy role-play areas unless it is a real life emergency. Teleport to the HUB and AFK there as necessary.

DRAMA:  SW Universe Sims do NOT tolerate OOC drama in any form.  Role-players are expected to understand the distinction between IC (In Character) and OOC (Out Of Character). Any instance of OOC bleeding into IC will result in the surrounding role-play being shut down by the GM’s and Admins, the offending parties will be warned/banned.  OOC abuse, bullying, etc… will not be tolerated, nor should it be taken to group chat/Discord.  If you encounter a problem with a fellow role-player, either deal with it in a private, adult fashion, or mute and role-play ban that person.  It takes more than one person to cause drama.

GENERAL BEHAVIOUR: SW Universe role-players are expected to treat each other with respect and common courtesy. Name calling, racism, homophobia, sexist comments, harassment, passive aggressive behaviour, belligerent, etc… These types of behaviour are not acceptable and will result in people being removed from the SW Universe community.

ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR: Behaviour aimed to disrupt role-play, or activity on the Sim is NOT permitted. This would include, but is not limited to; sit hacking to bypass doors and obstacles, rezzing large numbers of objects/prims without staff approval, griefing, caging people, sending people into orbit, bumping/pushing other avatars, etc… In addition, no impersonating staff members, no entering residentials without permission, no use of spy huds, or scripts to listen/record conversations and no intentional use of bugs, or glitches to gain an advantage. When in doubt, ask an Admin before engaging in any behaviour you think might be classed as ‘antisocial’.

SW UNIVERSE ROLE PLAY RULES

POST ORDER: Post order will be maintained, each role-player in a scene should be allowed adequate time to post. Shot-gun posting, posting before your turn, etc… is discouraged especially during contentious, or conflict role-play. It is customary that when entering an existing scene with an already established post order that you simply join in at the end of the post order.

DICE ROLLS: Dice can be used outside of combat for escapes, perception beyond what is initially included in role-play (where the role-player believes there is more to a scene than may be completely evident), Non-Combat Skills as outlined in the SWT CHARACTER BATTLES), etc…. When dice are rolled to determine the success, or failure of an action a roll of ten(Moderate Difficulty), or higher denotes a successful action. This is the standard unless it is a faction specific roll (where the faction leader has set specific Difficulty Rating), or a roll required by a GM/Sim Admin where they will determine the Difficulty Rating roll requirements.

NO TELEPORTING OUT OF ROLEPLAY, OR COMBAT SCENES: Teleporting out of role play, or capture to avoid continuing the role-play will result in Staff intervention. This kind of behaviour interrupts the role-play of everyone involved in a scene and is not acceptable. Role-players who find themselves in situations they believe to be meta-gamed, or breaking other Sim Rules should contact a GM, or Admin BEFORE leaving the role-play scene. If no GM, or Admin is available then either continue with the RP until one can be reached, speak with those involved OOC to try and reach a conclusion, or ask the role-play can be halted until a GM, or Admin can be contacted. Role-players are NOT allowed to moderate their own role-play and therefore cannot just invalide a scene as they see fit.

ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES: Think before you act... Members of the SW Universe community are expected to role-play the consequences of their characters actions to a role-play conclusion. Sim Admin and GM’s will NOT interfere with on-going role-play unless it contravenes the rules outlined in this document.

META-GAMING: A player is meta-gaming when they use knowledge, not gained through role play, to change, or influence the way they play their character (usually to give them an advantage). Meta-gaming is NOT allowed. For example: You read in Discord about an ongoing role-play, someone is being kidnapped in the Under City. You log into SL, proceed to the Sim and enter the role-play with the intention of saving the victim from this terrible kidnap atrocity. This is meta-gaming; information gained outside of role-play was used to influence character choices.

GOD-MODDING: God-modding is defined as controlling another role-players responses, or controlling their actions during role-play. God-modding is NOT allowed. For example: Your character is angered, they attempt to slap the person who angered them. An open ended emote, that allows response, would read: “She tries to hit the person in the face, possibly knocking out all his perfect teeth.” Whereas a god-modded emote would read: “She hits the person in the face, all their teeth fall out and scatter to the floor.” One emote allows for response and avoidance of the action, the other forces the action.

REALISTIC ROLEPLAY: SW Universe is an immersive role-play community with a complex lore and vast array of outside information (films, TV series, video games, websites, etc…), that define what is and what is not realistic with regards to role-play storylines and role-play characters within the genre. We ask that anyone engaging in role-play within the SW Universe community role-play their characters realistically at all times. This applies to character creation, character actions and reactions. Outlandish, unbelievable characters and storylines that do not adhere to the SW Universe lore are not permitted. All disputes regarding realistic role-play should be mediated OOC between the role-players involved. If no solution can be found an SW Universe GM, or Admin can be contacted.

THOUGHT EMOTES: Thought emotes are the worst form of emote.  Thought emotes are defined as 'thinking' what your character cannot say due to possible IC ramifications. Negative thought emotes without accompanying body language that allow for IC ramifications, are not permitted. For example: “The Junior Senator sat in the meeting and seethed. She thought about how much she would like to stab the woman ogling the Chancellor in the face, how she was ugly and her clothes did not match, yes… saggy boobs, lopsided eyes, snaggletooth. UGLY…” This is an example of a thought-emote; there is nothing being said, no actions to respond to, it is aimed to insult without repercussion and is not acceptable.

FADE TO BLACK: SW Universe supports the use of FTB (Fade To Black) when role-players do not feel comfortable role-playing the details of that specific scene.  If someone asks you to FTB the correct response is 'Okay'.  FTB does not invalidate RP, or halt the story's progression.

ALTS: SW Universe Sims allow the use of alternative characters (alts) under certain circumstances. Alts can be used to enhance role-play. They can be used to allow certain stories to progress without the fear of long term repercussions/results for 'main' characters. Alts can also be used to experience multiple roleplay roles. You may NOT have two alts in the same faction (unless this is approved by Sim Admin/Owners), or use alts to pass information between factions, this would be classed as metagaming. You may NOT have two alts, or more present in the same RP scenario/scene. Alts cannot hold high ranks or position of authority that can DIRECT the course of a Faction such as Military Commander and Overseer of Acolytes without staff approval. Creating, or using alts to specifically manipulate an ongoing IC situation, or storyline (this would include votes of any kind), is not permitted unless this is done for a staff sanctioned event

If there are questions about whether or not your use of Alt could lead to rule-breaking please contact Staff. Anyone using alts for nefarious purposes will be warned, repeated offenses will result in further punishments.

NPC USAGE: Non-Combatant NPC’s are permitted, they can be spoken about and used to add depth to a scene. This type of NPC cannot be used in any combat scenario, or scene, or in any way affect the combat, or outcome of said combat.  Combative NPC’s can be used in two ways; one Bodyguard NPC per Faction Leader, or a Combat Replacement NPC where the NPC is a stand-in for a non-combat Character.

COMBAT REPLACEMENT NPC’S: Combat Replacement NPC’s are used when the role-player has chosen not to engage in combat directly; their character is non-combatant. The NPC fights in their stead. When using a Combat Replacement NPC the role-player should set-up their SWT HUD as the NPC’s HUD. All combat actions should be ‘emoted’ as being done by the NPC. The role-player using the NPC must remain non-combative and will be captured when the NPC is defeated unless they have successfully escaped combat as per General Combat Rules. . All information entered into the HUD (Rank, Class, Abilities, ETC..) is classed as the NPC’s.

BODYGUARD NPC’S: Bodyguard NPC’s are wearable attachments with their own SWT HUD. The NPC HUD should be set to Standard Rank, or lower. The NPC’s ‘Class’ and ‘Abilities’ can be different to those of the role-player wearing/using the NPC. During combat scenarios and scenes the Bodyguard NPC will act as a separate character (separate to the role-players main character). For the initiative roll the Bodyguard NPC will be included as a separate character and given their own position in the post/roll order. The controlling character will post/roll twice during combat; one post for themselves, one post/roll for the NPC Bodyguard. The actions of one may benefit the other without this being classed as metagaming. (STILL BEING TESTED. DO NOT USE)

CONTENTIOUS ROLE-PLAY, DEATH & RESURRECTION ROLE-PLAY

CONSENT: SW Universe role-players require the consent of all parties involved in a scene to engage in the following types of role-play; death role-play, dismemberment, sexual role-play, rape, graphic torture, and capture/kidnapping (when it deviates from the capture specific rules). Show consideration to fellow role-players, if a storyline could have lasting implications for their character then ask before engaging. Consent is not required for; placing bounties, or capturing someone as long as it adheres to the specific capture rules. Keep in mind however consent is mirrored. For example if you go into a scene wishing to capture someone, you also consent to being captured yourself.

CAPTURE: Capture cannot be forced unless it follows the below outlined ‘Raid Rules’. When captured the captors are allotted a TWO HOUR grace period of RP with the captee before any rescue attempt can be made. If needed, the TWO HOUR grace period can be done at a later time if mutually agreed upon. If no one is able/willing to RP with the captee during the TWO HOUR grace (No RP is received during the 2 hours) the captee is permitted to escape with no dice roll required. *The TWO HOUR grace period starts as soon as the person is captured.* When captured, if no role-play is received for twenty-four hours then the person captured is permitted to escape with no dice roll required. A captured person may attempt escape (once a day), by rolling +12 in the presence of a GM, or Sim Admin. Max capture time is three days. If a captor wishes to move a captee to a non-SWU sim captee must consent and be informed of capture rules of other sim.

SPYING ROLE-PLAY: To avoid metagame claims, intention to spy on a conversation, or individual should be announced in at least one role-play post before any information overheard can be used in further role-play scenes. This post MUST be within the chat range of those you intend to spy upon. Spying can only occur if there is a logical way the conversation could be overheard from your IC position. Walls, doors, etc… would block this. Distance should also be considered; whispered conversations require a maximum of five meters distance, normal conversations at no more than fifteen meters distance.

DEATH RP: To ensure role-players are not punished for story driven decisions to kill their characters, upon death they may designate one new character to inherit their previous characters rank. This option has no cool-down, it can be utilized as needed and the new character does not need to be of the same faction, or background.  Each role-player can have only one character capable of passing rank at the time of death and said ability may only be passed at the time of death. The Death Clause designation may be passed to an already-existing character, but it does not give that character the previous character’s rank. For example: Darth Doom (Exalted) dies. His player has another character, Scumbag Joe (Veteran). The player can create a new character at Exalted, or give the Death Clause designation to Scumbag Joe, who remains Veteran, but may now pass on his Veteran rank to a new character. This compromise allows players to maintain hard-earned ranks, but prevents players from being able to continuously use the Death Clause to create a new high-rank character every time a previous one dies. Other characters without the Death Clause designation can attain rank as usual, but may not pass on their ranks after death. This applies across alt accounts, and provable attempts to bypass it may result in demotion. Finally, if a Legendary character invokes the Death Clause, they may not make a new character at Legendary rank, and instead must do so at Exalted.

RESURRECTION: For Legendary characters; resurrection and cloning are possible, but they must be role-played correctly for them to be a valid means of returning from the dead. Anyone using these means to return from the dead will lose one rank on the SWT Meter.

DESTRUCTION: Destruction, or major manipulation of the SW Universe environment requires Admin approval before any role-play can commence. Failure to seek approval will result in the role-play being deemed invalid.

SW UNIVERSE RAID RULES

These rules apply to non-GM’d raids focused on retaliation, or capture. Raiding for any other reason contact a GM prior raid commencement.

DEFENDERS: There must be a minimum of three defenders at a base before a raid can take place.

RATIO: At the start of combat the ratio will be determined by the number of available defending role-players. The attacking force can match the number of defenders at a 1:1 ratio, BUT the number of defenders should never exceed a 2:1 ratio to attackers. If the number of defenders is in excess of 2:1 some role-players will be unable to engage in the raid. For example: If there are 10 defenders then 10 role-players ‘can’ attack. If, however, attackers only number 4, then two defenders will be unable to participate in the raid to bring the ratio in-line with 2:1.

RAID WAVES: If defenders have more role-players after their initial deployment, those role-players can be included in the second wave IF the attacking force has the additional bodies to keep the ratio within the 2:1 ratio.

FREQUENCY: A base can only be raided once a week. This limit does not count against events run by Storytellers.

NPC: Defenders can have a maximum of two NPC defenders at the front of their base; one skilled/experienced, the second advanced. They may also have one (advanced), NPC within a protected room.

ENTRANCE: Raiders/Attackers must use the front door to gain access to a base.

ESCAPE: Defenders AND Attackers may escape & leave scene at any-time during a raid by rolling,+12, or higher. To escape a role-player must have at least ONE HP. If downed, a role-player cannot escape without assistance. If assistance is sought the role-player offering assistance must roll +12, or higher for themselves and an additional roll for the role-player they are assisting. You are only allowed to save one additional role-player. Anyone who escapes cannot be captured.

CAPTURE: If the Defenders lose, the Attackers are permitted to capture TWO role-players. Additional captives may be taken IF the chosen Defenders consent to this. Capture time is a maximum of three days. When captured, if no role-play is received for twenty-four hours then the person captured is permitted to escape with no dice roll required. A captured person may attempt escape (once a day), by rolling dice in the presence of a GM, or Sim Admin.

RESCUE: If rescue raiding that person must have been captured for a minimum of 3 hours.

VICTORY: Attackers achieve victory by reducing all Defenders to a 0 HP/escape state. Defenders achieve victory by reducing all Attackers to a 0 HP/escape state.

GENERAL COMBAT RULES

DICE COMBAT: When an individual is outnumbered by more than four people in an unplanned event the individual may choose to combat no more than four of those people. This rule only applies outside of raid combat, when the individual being attacked is not in their faction/groups base HQ.

INJURY ROLE-PLAY/WOUNDS: Role-players are injured during dice combat when their HP reaches 0. Entering combat within two hours of previous, injury causing combat will incur a HP modifier of -1 to your base HP. If your character has a major wound, an injury requiring treatment using a bacta tank, etc… then your character will not be able to enter combat for a full twenty-four hour period. SW Universe encourages the realistic role-play of injuries.

NEUTRAL ZONE OOC RULES - JAKKU

The Neutral Zone is covered by the ‘SW UNIVERSE - OOC RULES’ with the exception of those OOC Rules pertaining to consent, raiding and communications.

CONSENT: By entering the Neutral Zone you are automatically CONSENTING to capture role-play. The Neutral Zone is considered highly dangerous and lawless. People venture there to engage in criminal activity; buying slaves, spice, illegal weapons and augmentations, etc.. This rule allows those choosing to role-play in the Neutral Zone the knowledge that hours of lead up role-play cannot just be rendered pointless when OOC the person they are role-playing with does not consent to capture. Consent is still required for; death role-play, dismemberment, sexual role-play, rape and graphic torture.

FACTIONS & CONTROL: Factions are not permitted bases within the Neutral Zone. The zone is considered lawless. Attempts may be made in-character to control the zone, but no changes will be made in terms of adding faction bases, or the like to the zone. It is the desire that this zone remain as neutral as possible. As there are no faction bases in the Neutral Zone, raid rules do not apply to this zone.

COMMUNICATION DEVICES: Communication devices DO NOT work in the neutral zone. You cannot communicate with those you are not in speaking/shouting distance of. You cannot use channels of communication to issue distress calls, or call for assistance in role-play. The Neutral Zone is in deep space.

LAWLESS ZONE: The Neutral Zone is not ‘policed’ by any organization. The Neutral Zone is ‘lawless’ and any action in-character is permissible without it being ‘policed’ by any law enforcement agency such as GAR. Policing of the neutral zone is done by criminals serving their own interests.

SIM MODERATION & SIM ADMIN

Sim Admin are responsible for the OOC (Out Of Character) running of the sim.  GM’s deal with all matters pertaining to Sim moderation. Anyone concerned about the possible breaking of the above rules should speak with one of the GM’s.

Sim Admin and Moderators do NOT moderate role-play, nor will they direct, or interfere with ongoing roleplay unless an OOC (Out Of Character) sim rule is broken, (meta-gaming, god-modding, etc...) Or called upon by players to handle an OOC dispute.

If the OOC Sim Rules are broken then call for a GM.  They will ask what rule has been broken and handle the situation as swiftly as possible, so role play can continue.  Arguing with a GM, or Sim Admin, or showing any disrespect to the person attempting to do their job and remain impartial, will not be tolerated.
